my Vanilla visa gift card expired! and i didnt even use it?

I bought a vanilla visa gift card ($50) and it expired with the money still in it is it possible to unexpire the card?if not is there any way of getting it back?

    Unfortunately this is one of the BIG problems with those gift cards. Once they have expired, the money is gone. This is how they make their money as many people forget to use them up before it’s too late.

    However, your balance never expires but your card will expire. To replace your expired card and transfer your balance to your new card call customer service. However there may be a service fee charged to your account. There number should be on the back of the card.

    It depends on the policy of the merchant/financial institution that issued the gift card. Some issuers will re-issue a gift card if it expires but they may charge you a re-issuing fee as high as $25. Contact the card issuer.
